Helvetica and A Remix Manifesto

Helvetica
"You have to breathe, so you have to use Helvetica." -Erik Spiekermann
After watching parts of this documentary I think I fell in love with Helvetica (the font, not the documentary).  Never have I realized that this font face is everywhere.  It blows my mind knowing that the same style of a letter can give consumers so much information.  It is a neutral design that could say buy this or it could say I love you.  Like Jonathan Hoefler said,"And Helvetica maybe says everything, and that's perhaps part of its appeal."

This documentary is obviously extremely biased but I do have to agree with the director's point.  In order to move forward as a society we must not let the past dictate our future.  However, I think that as a society the past is still a major player of our success.  As far as Girl Talk goes, I'd dance to that any day.  He simply collages musical pieces.  He is the new artist of the mash up-yes. But without the past and without those original artists he would be responsible for nothing.
